Rustic French sitting room
by Annie Sloan
This is the sitting room in Annie Sloan’s rustic farmhouse in Normandy, France. Everything in this room – indeed the whole house – has been painted with Chalk Paint.
Annie Sloan’s rustic sitting room in Normandy is constantly evolving, but the painted scene above the fireplace has been there since she first painted it in the early 1990s. Everything in this room has been painted in Chalk Paint over the years – from the ceiling and walls, to the furniture and fabrics. Even the hessian rug in front of the fire has had the Annie Sloan treatment!
The landscape scene is hand-painted in Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan in a range of colours including Amsterdam Green and Duck Egg Blue. The ceiling is painted with Louis Blue and the beams are painted in a soft addition of Duck Egg Blue. The central beam was painted with Old White, but some of the original wood stain came through creating a warmer cream colour with interest, which Annie celebrated.
