Bold Bauhaus Living Room
This Bauhaus scheme living room uses coral hues from the Chalk Paint™ palette, as inspired by Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2019; Living Coral. It features as The Colourist Issue 5’s front cover.
To achieve this look, firstly paint your walls with Wall Paint in Antoinette, then paint a band of Chalk Paint™ in Barcelona Orange around the entire room.
Next draw on the rectangular blocks. Here the wall panelling was used as a guide, but this design will work just as well on a flat wall. Simply use a tape measure and spirit level to ensure neat square shapes! Sketch out the design so it slightly overlaps the Barcelona Orange band. Paint the rectangular blocks with firstly Barcelona Orange mixed 50:50 with Antoinette, then unmixed Barcelona Orange, and then a 50:50 Barcelona Orange and Emperor’s Silk mix in the middle. If you’d prefer not to mix, substitute Arles and Burgundy respectively. Use masking tape to keep the lines crisp; strong geometric lines are key to this Bauhaus look.
The floorboards are painted in Scandinavian Pink and finished with Matt Chalk Paint™ Lacquer. The radiator is painted in Chalk Paint™ in Antoinette – no need to use Chalk Paint™ Wax on painted radiators as the heat they produce will cure the Chalk Paint™. The sofa is upholstered with Linen Union in Antoinette + Old White.
