Amsterdam Green Cabinet
by Ildiko Horvath
This rustic cabinet was painted with Chalk Paint in Amsterdam Green and distressed by Painter in Residence Ildiko Horvath.
Ildiko Horvath fell in love with Amsterdam Green so she decided to make it the main focus for this project. She built up layers of colour underneath the green, which she then chipped away with a palette knife to give a worn, rustic finish.
Building up layers of paint, she started by painting Graphite on the edges and carvings of the cabinet. She then daubed areas of Aubusson Blue, Antibes Green and Olive, which she painted over with a coat of Amsterdam Green. When the paint was dry, she chipped away at the Amsterdam Green with a palette knife to reveal the colours underneath and to give the cabinet a worn, rustic finish. Clear Chalk Paint Wax seals everything in.
