This rustic table has been given a complete makeover with Chalk Paint using one of Annie’s favourite decorative painting techniques called sgraffito. This traditional technique is simple to achieve, the trick is to work with still-wet paint and scratching your design in the surface to reveal the underlying colour.
Annie painted the table with a range of Chalk Paint colours including Antibes Green, Greek Blue, Barcelona Orange and Old White in a random fashion. Once dry she painted the top with Graphite. Then, using the wooden end of a small Detail Brush, she started scratching shapes, designs and figures into the Graphite to reveal the colours beneath. She chose a landscape design with trees, water and houses. The rest of the table was painted with Old White. Once finished she sealed her work with Clear Chalk Paint Wax.
