Paul Klee Inspired Drawers
by Annie Sloan
Annie was inspired by Paul Klee’s Polyphony watercolour to create this colourful piece.
Annie chose Chalk Paint in Paris Grey as a neutral background for this chest of drawers before she created multiple layers of colour using a pattern of squares overlaid with different coloured dots.
First Annie tore flaps from cardboard boxes and painted them using a limited number of colours from the Chalk Paint range to keep the effect similar in tone. She then printed the cardboard squares onto the cabinet which gave a slightly uneven effect.
She then roughly applied paint onto some bubble wrap of a similar size to the cardboard and in the same palette and pressed the ‘tips’ of the bubble wrap onto the surface of the chest of drawers to create the dot effects.
Clear Chalk Paint Wax seals the piece.
