Darlo General is not your average corner store. Serving up great coffee and locally made artisan treats alongside a curated selection of thoughtful homewares and gorgeous gifts, this eclectic community hub feels much more a Byron holidaescape… but one that’s right on your doorstep.

DG is the lovechild of Sydney interior stylist Mia Cipolla, who in the past has used her artistic eye to turn houses into homes with heart. Her new neighbourhood nook driven by creativity, community and a passion for stylish spaces seems like a completely natural evolution from her thriving styling business, Urban Style Lab. Aware that the previous owner of the corner shop was flying the coop, Mia was immediately taken with creating something special for the vibrant community that is Darlinghurst. And keeping community at the centre remains her primary focus, with the launch of a Darlo General Book Club and regular markets, meet ups, events & workshops.

Darlo General is passionate about supporting local, young, regional and boutique makers turning their talents to small-batch, hand-crafted, mindful creations. Think beverage brands like Kombu Kombucha, StrangeLove Soda and Monceau Pet Nat. Bread from Pioik Bakery and butter from Pepe Saya. Decadent nut butters from Brother Mountain Macadamias. And fresh cakes and savoury treats lovingly baked by two local ladies.

The gifts and homewares shelves in store are packed with offerings from local community brands like Saarde and Floreat, bright young talents like Newport-based woodworker Rueben Bloom of Made By Rueben. You’ll also find Aussie-made skincare from Salus and kitchen essentials from Melbourne’s Barkly Basics, mindful ways to play and relax care of Journey of Something, as well as a range of locally crafted baskets, shoppers, ceramics and more.

Being a keen advocate of a more sustainable future Mia is passionate about transforming preloved furniture & household accessories to create beautifully bespoke pieces.

So it seemed like a match made in heaven when Mia decided to become a stockist of Annie Sloan chalk paints at Darlo General & looks forward to sharing the full range of  this amazing & sustainable paint with the community.
