This Christmas Annie has taken inspiration from one of the most famous artists of the 20^th century, Henri Matisse. Matisse was celebrated for his use of vibrant colour, bold shapes and expressive simplicity and was a pioneer of the art movement known as Fauvism. He is also one of Annie’s favourite artists!

Wonderful graphic shapes

Matisse is perhaps best known for his paper cut-outs, and it is these iconic shapes that have inspired our Christmas theme this year. You could have a go at drawing Matisse-inspired curvy shapes yourself or, download our templates to create the same shapes Annie drew so you can create your own colourful Matisse inspired Christmas, or ‘Matisse-mass’ as we like to call it.

A joyful palette

We’re making Christmas joyful and bright this year! Annie chose a palette of five main Chalk Paint colours for her festive theme: Tyrian Plum, Florence, Capri Pink, Original and Frida Blue, with highlights in Arles and Antibes Green and a touch of Metallic Paint in Traditional Gold.
