This Bauhaus chest of drawers has been given a fresh and funky look for 2023. Here at Annie Sloan, we don’t believe in buying new in line with ever-changing trends, but we do believe in reinventing furniture and giving it a new lease of life! If you’re looking for some inspiration to motivate you to reimagine a piece of old furniture, look no further. This is a fabulous piece for beginners, and by adjusting the colours slightly you can follow whichever trend you fancy!

Here’s our step-by-step:

Step 1: Chalk Paint™

First, The House Warmings painted a flat coat of Chalk Paint™ in Olive. Due to the high quality of pigment in every Chalk Paint™ tin, only one coat was required. Making this upcycling transformation quick, easy, and endlessly satisfying. Stop there and you’ll already have a lovely piece of furniture that looks brand new. Continue following The House Warming’s stylish design tips, and you’ll have a piece of furniture art with cultural Bauhaus clout.

Step 2: Geometric Detail

Next, The House Warmings added geometric shapes to inject the piece with a bit more flare. She used scrap paper and cut out templates before outlining them with chalk onto the furniture. She then used an Annie Sloan Flat Brush and Chalk Paint™ in Old White and Barcelona Orange to paint the shapes.

Step 3: Wax

Finally, once everything was totally dry (which usually takes around 0.5-2 hours, depending on your climate and various other environmental factors), a coat of Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax is applied to finish and protect.
