Botanical Folk Drawers

by Annie Sloan

Botanical Folk Drawers from Issue 1 of The Colourist painted with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan with Graphite Wall Paint

Annie used a Flat Brush to apply her base coat of Giverny. Using a Flat Brush will help you to achieve a smooth and modern finish. In order to reflect the work of Josef Frank, Annie’s inspiration for this piece, Annie chose bright and bold colours for the design over the top. Her palette of Chalk Paint® included Primer Red, Burgundy, Scandinavian Pink, Giverny, Arles, Antibes Green and Florence. The surreal botanical design is fun (and forgiving!). Annie suggests making some sketches before you start - but adding extra colour and detail spontaneously as you work. Using the Annie Sloan Detail Brushes makes adding interest and detail like this especially easy. The piece was then finished with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax.

You may recognise this chest as the front cover of issue 1 of The Colourist, which also includes an article spotlight on Josef Frank. Pick up a copy to discover more.
