Textured Pink and Blue Bureau
by Girl in Blue Designs
Painter in Residence Charlie Massey of Girl in Blue Designs used sculpting putty to create texture on this vibrant bureau.
Annie Sloan’s Painter in Residence created this highly textured, vibrantly coloured bureau with the aid of sculpting putty. Girl in Blue Designs, aka Charlie Massey, first applied the putty at the top of the bureau, creeping gradually to midway down the front of the piece for a ‘dripped’ effect.
Once the putty was completely dry, she used a base coat of Chalk Paint™ in Antoinette over the entire bureau. She then applied Burgundy over still-wet Antoinette to create a hot fuschia, and left to dry fully. Next, she applied a mix of Provence and Aubusson Blue over the top. The textured ‘dripped’ areas received a further coat of Napoleonic Blue, Antoinette and Burgundy.
Once completely dry, Charlie performed a wet distress using warm soapy water and a coarse rag to wipe back areas of paint, revealing layers of Chalk Paint™. Finally a coat of Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax was applied to finish.
