When did the store open and why did you decide to open it?
Keepers Interiors and Furniture was founded in 1990 and has been serving the area for 35 years. Myself and and Amber Ehrlich purchased the business 20 years ago.
Describe the shop and what it’s like to visit
Keepers Interiors & Furniture is a creative destination for beautifully curated furniture, upholstery, accessories, lamps, restored furniture, timeless home décor, gifts, and the transformative power of paint. Specialising in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Keepers inspires customers to rescue, restore and reimagine furniture through expert guidance, curated pieces, and hands-on workshops. Part design studio and part creative community, Keepers celebrates craftsmanship, sustainability, and the belief that great furniture deserves a second life.
How did you discover Annie Sloan paints?
By accident! My father, a painter and artist by trade, experimented with her paints, but I was not aware of their usage in the home interiors world. By chance, my hairdresser mentioned that I must try this paint that she painted her entire fireplace surround in with the colour Florence. My first project was painting our dining room table in Antibes Green with clear wax. It has stood the test of time and is still one of the mainstays of our own home décor.
How did stocking Annie Sloan paints change or enhance your store?
When Keepers Interiors & Furniture first began stocking Annie Sloan Chalk Paint it did more than add another product to the shelves: it opened the door to a whole new way of thinking about furniture.
For years, Keepers had been about craftsmanship, restoration, and seeing potential where others might not. But Chalk Paint® made transformation accessible in a way that was immediate and inspiring. Suddenly, a dated dresser, a forgotten buffet, or a tired side table could become something beautiful again – often in a single afternoon.
Customers didn’t just come in to the shop anymore. They came in with ideas. With photos on their phones. With pieces in the back of their trucks. They wanted to learn how to paint.
What workshops do you run?
Workshops are led by Sam, a trained instructor, guided by the methods of Annie Sloan. As an official Annie Sloan stockist, the team is specially trained to teach her techniques and help people feel confident using the paint. Workshops are offered regularly throughout the year, typically two to three a month ranging from beginner introductions to more in-depth ‘bring your own piece’ sessions and opportunities to learn varied tried and true Chalk Paint techniques.
What’s a fun fact about the store?
Keepers has been in business for over 35 years and Sam worked as a delivery person at this very story during his college days!
What do you love most having your store?
What I love most about owning Keepers Interiors & Furniture is the people. Every day, I get to watch someone walk in unsure if they can transform a piece and leave confident, inspired, and proud of what they’ve created. Being part of that creative spark never gets old. More than anything, I love the community that’s grown around Keepers Interiors & Furniture. It’s not just a store it’s a place where people gather, learn, share ideas, and encourage each other. Watching those connections happen is incredibly meaningful.
