Painter in Residence Hester van Overbeek built this bench from an old reclaimed door. The finished look is rustic with a Scandinavian feel.

Hester began by sawing her door into five pieces, which she simply screwed together to make a standing bench.

After sanding the rough edges, Hester painted the bench with Chalk Paint® in Pure using the Annie Sloan Flat Brush. She then applied Chalk Paint® in Amsterdam Green to the edges. She finished the whole piece with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax to protect it.

To add comfort, colour and pattern to the bench, Hester made seat cushions using Annie Sloan fabric.
