Armoire verte ombrée
par Girl in Blue Designs
Painter in Residence Girl in Blue Designs created this green ombre using three colours from the Chalk Paint® palette.
This piece is the first project by Annie’s Painter in Residence, Charlie Massey of Girl in Blue Designs from Georgia, USA.
To create your own green Chalk Paint® ombré, first roughly colour block with Amsterdam Green, Antibes Green and Lem Lem to create a base. Then apply a second coat in the same colours; but this time blend the colours into one another. At the point of blending, move your brush and the paint backwards and forwards lightly until the colours merge seamlessly. It’s important to keep the paint wet while you do this, so you may want to use a water spray to stop the Chalk Paint® drying too quickly.
To finish the piece, Charlie then used a wet-distress technique to create a rustic look. To wet-distress, saturate then wring out an old rag. Make sure it’s clean and then wipe back the paint while it’s still tacky. This will remove the paint more completely than sanding and you’ll be left with a crisp contrast between paint and wood.
As always, apply a coat of Clear Chalk Paint® Wax to finish.
