Annie takes New Orleans! This September Annie and a collection of her favourite Chalk Paint® colleagues are heading to beautiful New Orleans to paint the town every colour of the Chalk Paint® palette.
When & Where
Annie’s Big Paint Weekend is coming to New Orleans, Louisiana. After a long hiatus, Annie will be hosting two jampacked days of demonstrations on September 18th & 19th at the iconic New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI). NOCHI is in the heart of downtown New Orleans with a streetcar stop right outside the front doors.
What & Who
Annie will be joined by a selection of the biggest names in the furniture painting world, including All Shabbed Out, Bushed by Brandy, Jonathon Marc Mendes, Kacha Furniture and Atelier 1966. The workshop has been developed to teach some of the most popular decorative painting techniques, such as marbling, ombre and traditional distressing.
Tickets & Earlybird
Tickets are extremely limited with only 200 places available so please do book early to avoid disappointment. Earlybird Tickets are on sale at $500 and will increase to $550 from August 1st.
15 lucky Chalk Paint® fans will also be able to snap up our VIP (Very Important Painters) package for $800. This ticket includes full access to the two days of demonstrations at NOCHI, and an exclusive breakfast and private audience with Annie Sloan on Sunday 18th September. Special Guests & Speakers
Kacha is a furniture artist who transforms old and abandoned furniture into masterpieces giving them new lease of life. Kacha teaches people from all over the world on YouTube and other social media platforms. Known for creating glamorous and bold pieces, Kacha believes everything is better with a touch of gold, and finds herself spending endless hours in her studio gilding furniture.
Jonathan Marc Mendes
Jonathon Marc Mendes is a British furniture artist, who loves all things Chalk Paint®️ and the endless possibilities it brings. One of Jonathon’s biggest passions is experimenting with colour and technique; he loves taking modern furniture and creating aged effects with timeless appeal. In 2017, Jonathon was chosen by Annie Sloan to be her Painter in Residence. Since then he has painted in Greece, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, South Africa, Germany, The Netherlands and more!
Aida Franco comes from an artistic family of visual artists, musicians, and even a Bolshoi dancer. Her decidedly mixed heritage of Mexican, Mayan, Basque, and more inspire her to use bold colours that blend and go together in ways that she hopes “excite and surprise my audience”. Her 20,000 Instagram followers certainly seem to approve. She’ll teach you to unlock your creativity, to express yourself through paint and colour, and to bring some joy to every piece of furniture you paint.
Olivia Lacey is a Connecticut based, American furniture artist, aka Pigeon & Pip. Immediately identifiable thanks to her whimsical, theatrical staging; Olivia has brought imagination and surrealism to the art of furniture painting. Olivia uses Chalk Paint®️ to bring a sprinkling of magic to old furniture.
All Shabbed Out describes herself as a "furniture artist" and is recognisable for her uniquely well textured, distressed, and colourful rustic pieces. Based in Texas, where everything is biggerr – including the talent ! – she’ll be demonstrating her signature look, inspiring you to experiment with colour and decorative paint effects to create your own furniture masterpiece.
Martine Lestage is the French Canadian artiste behind Atelier 1966. Five years ago Martine took a furniture painting course with her local Annie Sloan Stockist, which she enjoyed so much she quit her job and set up a painting workshop in her garage. She continued to learn using online courses and tutorials from around the world, and will be at Annie’s Big Paint Weekend in her role as our next Painter in Residence. She’ll be painting and sharing her tips, knowledge, and enthusiasm with visitors throughout the two day event.
Brushed by Brandy
Brushed By Brandy is a furniture painter from Sacramento, CA. She’s the mother of three boys and discovered Chalk Paint in 2016 when painting a bedroom set left in her rental home by previous tenants. Fast forward to 2022 and she is an authority on decorative furniture painting with over 68,000 followers on Instagram and a niche as one of the best blenders in the business!
Girl in Blue Designs
Charlie Anne Massey aka Girl in Blue Designs had always dabbled with art, but it was only in 2014 when she began painting furniture that she found her perfect art form! Her style is eclectic, ranging from sleek mid-century modern and cottage core to glam rock, but it’s the rustic ‘old world’ look that she’s best known for. Charlie loves working in deep tones - accentuating them with pops of dramatic and bright colour. She loves layers, splatters, artisan waxes stencil and transfer work, and of course; hand painted details! Through furniture-art Charlie seeks balance and chaos in her busy life as a mother.
Dingley Dell Creative
Heidi Roper aka Dingley Dell Creative is a decorative furniture artist based in the UK. Specialising in decorative designs and repeat patterns found in nature, she creates bespoke one-off pieces for homes as individual as we are. A lover of colour and folk patterns from around the world, Heidi is all about bold, joy-bringing designs.
Annie Sloan will be opening the event and joined by Kacha, Jonathan Marc Mendes and Aida Franco in a jam-packed day of inspiring talks and demos. We’ll close Saturday in the company of a special guest and a couple of evening drinks!
For those with VIP tickets, Annie will be hosting breakfast at a nearby hotel before day two kicks off! Sunday will see Annie joined by Kacha, Jonathan Marc Mendes, Quitta from All Shabbed Out, Brushed by Brandy, Olivia Lacy and Martine from Atelier 1966 where they’ll share top tips and demos.
All painted furniture by our special guests will also be available to buy at the end of the weekend.
