About
Back in Time
A vintage home décor mom and pop shop. While we do sell new items such as blankets, candles, pillows and frames and many other home accents, but our true passion is upcycling and re-purposing old vintage furniture and bringing it back to life for our customers to enjoy. Every piece has a journey, and every journey tells a story. The older the piece, the better the history, and our customers love hearing the story on how we find our pieces so when they bring a piece home, they too can share the story with family and friends. Examples of some of the upcycled furniture in the shop include old radios, Victrolas and old television sets that have been made into rolling bars. Other finds include Coca-Cola and Pepsi memorabilia, a wooden barber chair and old refrigerators, fireplace mantels, rocking chairs, desks, telephone booths and tables.
We opened Back in Time to help customers unplug from this crazy world we live in and be transported back to the days before everything became so fast-paced and technology was an obsession. When you walk into our store you will understand instantly while we tried turning back the clock, including the oldies music playing throughout the shop. We carry products that seem to come from a different century and are then repurposed, reused, refurbished, and then placed perfectly back throughout the shop.
The best part about the store is meeting people and hearing their stories. Everybody has a connection with a piece that they can relate to. An early 1900 chandelier hangs from our store’s original tin ceiling, only adding to the old-world vibe. Make your way through the store and find that we have a very old barn in the back with more vintage and upcycled finds.
Our shop opened in 2019, and we are already expanding to offer even more home vintage home decor items. The vintage items we find come from all different locations, including many old homes on Long Islander, as well as from picking we do across the U.S., including visits to Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Texas, just to name a few. Our pieces are then repurposed and painted with the help of friends and family members. Our new partnership with Annie Sloan provides us with even more options in bringing the picks we located back to life!
