Patterned Mid-Century Modern Chairs
by Felix Sloan
These chairs have been given a contemporary graphic design using the Annie Sloan Detail Brushes and a blue-green palette by Felix Sloan.
Felix Sloan added a contemporary graphic pattern to these mid-century modern chairs using the Annie Sloan Detail Brushes.
Each chair’s back and front strut has been painted with Chalk Paint® in (from left to right) Provence, Aubusson Blue and Florence. Felix used a Flat Brush to apply this use colour, to create a smooth, modern finish. He then used each of the four brushes from the Detail Brush Set to create unique patterns on the backs of chairs, letting the brush dictate the type of mark made.
From left to right:
On the Provence chair the detail pattern is painted with Chalk Paint® in Paloma using the Large Round Detail Brush, perfect for making tear-drop shapes.
On the Aubusson Blue chair the bold pattern has been created with the Large Flat Detail Brush using Chalk Paint® in English Yellow and Old White.
On the Florence chair the Matisse-inspired design is painted with both the Small Round and Flat Detail Brush, with Chalk Paint® in Scandinavian Pink and Antibes Green.
All chairs are finished with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax and upholstered with Linen Union in Provence + Aubusson Blue to complement the blue-green paint palette.
