Stolik Svenska Blue

Annie has used Chalk Paint® in Svenska Blue against Wall Paint in French Linen and Piano in Olive to create this grown-up, nordic scheme.

This dark wood side table has been refreshed, restored and reinvigorated in two coats of Svenska Blue, a crisp and cool toned blue-grey in the Chalk Paint® palette. Named after Sweden (Svenska is Swedish for Swedish) and inspired by 17th and 18th Century traditional Swedish interiors, it is a cool contemporary tone suited to both traditional and modern schemes.

Annie applied one coat of Chalk Paint® to “prime” the surface and then a second to ensure full coverage. When applying multiple coats of Chalk Paint® always be patient in allowing every coat to dry fully before moving onto the next coat. Annie used a Chalk Paint® Brush to create some texture; to add extra texture apply the paint thickly and in different directions.

Annie recommends accenting Svenska Blue with Old Violet, Primer Red, Amsterdam Green or Olive. Here she used another neutral, Wall Paint in French Linen, to emphasise the blue of Svenska. The curtain is Annie’s fabric in Piano in Olive. This playful but sophisticated fabric features a smorgasboard of Chalk Paint® colours, all of which will work beautifully next to Svenska.
