Tiroirs Folkloriques Botaniques
par Annie Sloan
You may recognise this piece as the front cover of The Colourist Issue 1. Using Detail Brushes and free hand lines, Annie created this folk-art style design using a fun palette of Chalk Paint® colours.
Annie painted this chest of drawers with the Detail Brushes in a fun, folk style inspired by the work of Josef Frank.
Annie used a Flat Brush to apply her base coat of Giverny. Using a Flat Brush will help you to achieve a smooth and modern finish. In order to reflect the work of Josef Frank, Annie’s inspiration for this piece, Annie chose bright and bold colours for the design over the top. Her palette of Chalk Paint® included Primer Red, Burgundy, Scandinavian Pink, Giverny, Arles, Antibes Green and Florence. The surreal botanical design is fun (and forgiving!). Annie suggests making some sketches before you start – but adding extra colour and detail spontaneously as you work. Using the Annie Sloan Detail Brushes makes adding interest and detail like this especially easy. The piece was then finished with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax.
These drawers featured as the front cover of The Colourist Issue 1, which also includes an article spotlight on Josef Frank. Pick up a copy to discover more.
