The ANNIE SLOAN style identity has emerged organically over the past twenty years. Annie’s first book ‘Complete Book of Decorative Paint Techniques’, written in 1986 marked the foundation of this growth and as subsequent books have been published and artistic practices tuned, Annie’s signature is now marked with lucidity.

Annie’s training as a fine artist has enabled the ANNIE SLOAN style to not merely be a replica of historical designs brought into the twenty first century but a fusion of those foundations, layered with her own painterly and creative motif.

The ANNIE SLOAN style is heavy with historical art influences and draws from two key periods, the eighteenth and the early twentieth centuries. As Britain looked to France, Sweden and Italy for direction, Annie seeks the root of her identity here too; the revival of old classical styles of the Renaissance, married with the excitement of 1920s Paris, the earliest work of Picasso, art deco/nouveau and the initial murmurings of modern art.
