Originally referring to town called Jouy in northern France, this now means any printed fabrics with several pastoral scenes repeated usually in one colour. It is printed on a strong 100% cotton suitable for light upholstery and curtains. Many of the designs date from the 18th century and 19th century. In recent years old design have been taken and updated with fresh colourings but retaining the orgiginal beautifully drawn vignettes.
